Tui Sauvignon Blanc

The Tūī (TOO-ee) bird is unique to New Zealand, and native to the Johnson family vineyards where they have been restoring its native bush habitat, specifically around the Johnson family’s Lower Wairau Valley Area H vineyards. Its beautiful song calls to us as we pick our delicious Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

The tūī (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) is a medium-sized bird native to New Zealand. It is blue, green, and bronze coloured with a distinctive white throat tuft (poi). It is an endemicpasserine bird of New Zealand, and the only species in the genus Prosthemadera. It is one of the largest species in the diverse Australasian honeyeater family Meliphagidae, and one of two living species of that family found in New Zealand. The tūī has a wide distribution in the archipelago, ranging from the subtropical Kermadec Islands to the sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands, as well as the main islands.

The Tui Sauvignon Blanc has classic citrus and tropical fruit aromas. The flavors of stone fruit, fig, gooseberry and grapefruit are accented by hints of fresh-cut grass, and are complemented by crisp acidity and a juicy, refreshing finish.
